A profound and life changing experience …

It happened during a hot summer Saturday afternoon in my 36th year. I was taking my Master’s atunement in Reiki.

The final symbol.

We were told it could be quite a powerful experience for some and our instructor was right.

After receiving the symbol, we branched off with partners and practiced for a good part of the day. It was then time to come together in a circle.

We were sitting in a sunny living room of a beautiful house that had very high ceilings. The furniture was cleared out, and we had plenty of room. It was time to start the final meditation.

I was feeling such bliss from the afternoon’s partner practice and was really looking forward to the final guided meditation before we received our certificates and then were to share a wonderful pot luck meal.

How I Came to Be There

Now, circumstances being what they were, I was guided to several alternative healing modalities, seeking something, anything–that would assist me in managing my chronic illness over and above what allopathic medicine was doing, or not doing, for me. I have a chronic autoimmune digestive illness and it was in full attack mode.

That year, that month, that week, that day, I was very weak, in a great deal of pain, and quite withdrawn so as to cope. Reiki did seem to help and maybe the combination of the two created the perfect alignment for my little trip. I do not know and it really does not matter.

And Then it Happened …

We arranged our chairs in a circle, readied for the special guest to commence with the final meditation. He was well known in our area and was the sponsor of our instructor. He explained he felt it important to be there that day. It was a pull he could not remember feeling before. He later told me he felt he was needed to bring me back.

The room relaxed and only his melodic and monotone voice was heard in the quiet. He began the guided meditation to focus and mellow the body.

He began from the feet up.
